A new generation is learning the decanomial layout! This is one of my favorite math lessons. Students lay out times tables through ten, then exchange for the equivalent (4 x 3=12, 3 x 4=12). The children then exchange for a square and then exchange for cubes. There is a surprise at the end that connects to a favorite Primary Montessori lesson. It's a long lesson but it's amazing how many connections the kids make.
