Dissecting Flowers
Recently we took apart flower to find their parts. It was a shame to take apart such lovely lilies. But sometimes sacrifices need to be made for science. :)

The Bird Whisperer
If this doesn't melt your heart I don't know what will. This is one of my precious little ones singing to our new birds. The entire class stopped what they were doing to listen to her sweet song. It's moments like these that make me love my job.

Bristle Bots
We entered the world of STEM today in Lower Elementary! Our 3rd years made bristle bots. These are simple robots made out of the head of a toothbrush and a vibrating motor. Stay tuned because soon we will race the bots!

Decanomial Layout
A new generation is learning the decanomial layout! This is one of my favorite math lessons. Students lay out times tables through ten, then exchange for the equivalent (4 x 3=12, 3 x 4=12). The children then exchange for a square and then exchange for cubes. There is a surprise at the end that connects to a favorite Primary Montessori lesson. It's a long lesson but it's amazing how many connections the kids make.
